Is an MBBS degree from abroad valid in India?

Yes, absolutely — if the university is approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). All the universities we work with are NMC-approved, which means that after completing your degree, you are eligible to appear for the FMGE/NExT exam and apply for medical licensure in India. Many of our students go on to practice successfully in India, pursue postgraduate studies, or even work abroad.

Do I need to clear NEET to apply for MBBS abroad?

Yes. Since 2018, the Indian government has made it mandatory for students to qualify NEET to be eligible for MBBS admission abroad. The good news? You do not need a top rank — you just need to qualify. So even if your NEET rank isn’t high enough for a government seat in India, you still have the opportunity to study medicine in a globally recognized university through Academic Gateway.

Which countries are best for studying MBBS abroad?

We focus on three of the most student-friendly, affordable, and NMC-approved destinations:
Georgia: European-quality education, modern campuses, English-medium teaching, and warm hospitality.
Kyrgyzstan: Known for its budget-friendly medical programs, safe environment, and good MCI/FMGE passing rate.
Uzbekistan: One of the rising stars for MBBS, offering low tuition, strong academics, and Indian-friendly universities.
All three countries offer high academic standards, experienced faculty, international exposure, and Indian student communities for comfort and support.

How much does it cost to study MBBS abroad?

Students live in a supportive Indian student community, which makes it easy to adapt, especially in the first year.

Is the MBBS course taught in English?

Yes. All MBBS programs we recommend at Academic Gateway are taught in English throughout the entire course. There may be optional foreign language classes to help you communicate with local patients during your clinical rotations, but all academic teaching is in English.

What are the career options after completing MBBS abroad?

You have several options:
Appear for FMGE or NExT and practice in India
Apply for PG courses (MD/MS) in India or abroad
Prepare for USMLE (USA), PLAB (UK) or other international licensing exams
Pursue careers in clinical research, hospital management, public health, or even medical education
We will be publishing a detailed blog about this — keep an eye out!

Is studying abroad safe?

Yes, all the countries we work with are safe and welcoming for international students. The campuses and hostels have proper security and most cities have low crime rates. Our on-ground student support team stays in touch to help students at every stage.

Can I transfer back to India or another country?
